Thesis Title
Simplified Modelling of Pollutant Transport in Naturally-layered Aquifers

Read article at Massey Research Online: MRO icon

The groundwater pollution is a major hazard in areas where groundwater is the sole source of drinking water. The pollutants get introduced into the groundwater systems by wastes from factories, excessive fertiliser applications, sea water intrusion, and other human activities. Mr Ali has modelled groundwater flow, pollutant transport in the groundwater and remediation of the pollutant by on site chemical oxidation technology. The mathematical models Mr Ali has developed, exploit natural layers of porous underground material for vertical layer thickness. These models are time and data efficient over traditional three-dimensional full scale simulation.
