Thesis Title
Accelerated Fruit Libraries to Predict Storage Potential of " 'Hayward' Kiwifruit Grower Lines

Reduction of postharvest losses is a major challenge for the kiwifruit industry. Kiwifruit storability varies between growers and is difficult to predict. Mr Jabbar established a rapid test method of accelerating fruit losses to predict the storability of green kiwifruit from different growers. The firmness change parameter of accelerated softening was found to be an indicator of fruit firmness in storage. This technique can segregate growers for good and bad quality in storage and help to minimise fruit losses during the supply chain.
