The Centre for Ergonomics, Occupational Safety and Health (CErgOSH) is a College of Health research centre operating within the School of Health Sciences. It synergises and co-ordinates the University’s expertise in the fields of ergonomics and occupational health and safety.
Research
We conduct major research programmes, often in collaboration with research teams from external agencies and organisations. The Centre’s current research agenda and areas of expertise focus on a number of key areas:
- Small businesses and occupational safety and health
- Musculoskeletal discomfort
- Noise management and noise induced hearing loss
- Role of occupational safety and health practitioners
- Mild hypoxia in aircrew
- Sustainable development and corporate social responsibility

Study
Our flagship academic programme is the Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, which is the only course of its kind in New Zealand to be accredited by the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health - IOSH (United Kingdom).
In addition, we offer Continuing Professional Development (CPD) short courses for OHS Professionals.
