How to Read and Use Massey Library Ebooks
This page tells you how to read ebooks on- and offline, and other ways to make best use of ebooks.
- How to read ebooks online
If you are connected to the Internet, you can read all of our ebooks online, without having to download the ebook or create a special account.
- How to download ebooks to read offline
If you want to read an ebook offline (i.e. when you are not connected to the Internet), you may need to download some software first before you can download a copy of the ebook.
- Other ebooks features
Depending on the publisher, you may be able to do other things like: annotate or take notes; highlight text; copy and paste text, and more.
How to Read Ebooks Online
If you are using a computer or device that is connected to the Internet, you can read all of our ebooks while online, without having to download the ebook or create a special account. This is your easiest reading option if you are using a computer in the Library or in any Massey computer lab.
- Find or access your ebook
- Click on the link or button with a message like:
PDF Full Text OR
Read Online OR
Available for online reading OR
EPUB Full Text
Note: if a new PDF opens every time you turn a page on your EBSCOhost ebook, here’s how to fix the problem.
How to Download Ebooks to Read Offline
If you want to read an ebook offline (i.e. when you are not connected to the Internet), you may need to download some software first, before you can download a copy of the ebook. Note: Some ebooks have simultaneous user limits. If the user limit is reached, you will see a message to this effect. You may need to come back later to see if a copy has become available.
Massey Library provides ebooks from many publishers, using many different software platforms. This page connects to desktop and laptop computer instructions for our two main software platforms – EBSCOhost and Ebook Central – but there are many others.

Other Ebooks Features
Depending on the publisher, you may be able to do other things like: renew an ebook; annotate or take notes; highlight text; or copy and paste text. Many ebook platforms will also help you to reference (cite) a particular ebook.
